Cougar Town is an American comedy-drama television series that premiered on September 23, 2009 in the United States on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). On October 8, 2009, ABC announced that Cougar Town has been picked up for a full season.[1]
The series follows the life of Jules Cobb (Courteney Cox), who lives in Florida. She is a 40-year-old woman who recently divorced and re-enters a dating scene filled with younger men.
As of May 18, 2011[update], 44 episodes of Cougar Town have aired. Episode 36, "A Thing About You", was broadcast in Canada on January 12 as originally scheduled but was subject to a short-notice preemption in the U.S. and was shown on ABC January 19, 2011.[2]
The vast majority of the episodes, except for the pilot and the episode "Everything Man," are titled after songs by Tom Petty.

On January 10, 2011 ABC renewed Cougar Town for a third season,[57] which is set to premiere sometime in Midseason 2012.[58] In November 2011, ABC announced Cougar Town's third season would be cut from 22 episodes to 15 and removed it from the midseason schedule, with no new airdate.[59][60] On December 2, 2011, Josh Hopkins tweeted that the show will return in March, however this is yet to be confirmed by ABC. [61]
The producers had been promoting the show by having the cast making cameos in other ABC shows, like Suburgatory, Castle, Grey's Anatomy, Body of Proof, The Middle, Happy Endings, and Private Practice.[62]
